In February 2020, Kitti Borrisza introduced Amanda Kelly Espiritu to a new TED Conferences initiative called TED Circles when the two were in Medellin, Colombia with other digital nomads and remote workers. TED Circles is an open community of small groups that engage in conversations about big ideas all around the world. Hosts bring people together to watch and discuss a TED Talk around a monthly theme — everything from Resilience, to Leading With Curiosity. TED Circles shares takeaways online to consider each other’s perspectives and create a truly global conversation. Circles can take place in-person and online and help communities stay connected.
Amanda fell in love with the TED Circles events and Kitti encouraged Amanda to dive deep with the TED Circles Host community. Amanda began hosting her own TED Circles in Brazil in March 2020.
After COVID-19 forced both friends to evacuate from Latin America, Amanda and Kitti continued to host more TED Circles online while Kitti was in Hungary and Amanda was in the United States. While the timezones have proved tricky at times, they’ve continued to connect with the TED Circles Team and other Hosts around the world!
