24-HOUR GLOBAL BENEFIT FESTIVALS
Amanda produced and MC’d the NAHF in April and August 2020, introducing each artist and hosting a short Q&A with each act after their set. For the second festival, Amanda worked with the Creative Surrender Studios team to spotlight NAHF alumni alongside new musicians, opened up the festival to spoken word poets, partnered with new non-profits, and work to raise funds and awareness for organizations around the world that are proven advocates fighting social injustice and disparity.
Amanda and the CSS Team know our fellow creatives and those in the gig economy have been hit hard with so many projects, tours, and concerts being put on an indefinite hold with COVID-19. We wanted to figure out a way to help bring some light to people around the world and support both creatives and the charities and organizations helping support their local communities, no matter what country they're in. We know that not everyone is able to donate money at this time, but we want to remind everyone there's hope when we all come together. Even and especially if it's just tuning in to marinate in the melodies together.
We wanted to amplify their proven advocacy in supporting those affected by COVID-19 and addressing important global and systemic social justice issues from racism, to the refugee crisis, to trans rights. The CSS Team encouraged those who could to donate directly to the partner organizations via their respective websites. We also collected donations for the NAHF Artist Fund for the August 2020 Festival. 100% of donations were split evenly between the artists who performed and donated their time.
