After having a blast as a volunteer at the Dessert Goals: Spring Disco Edition in NYC in the spring of 2018 and interviewing attendees and vendors for Nooklyn’s Events column, Amanda came on-board to help co-Dessert Goals founders Miraya Berke and Liang Shi as a producer to create a custom installation for Dessert Goals: Joy Edition in the fall of 2018. Amanda sourced, painted, and constructed a giant millennial pink 8’x8’ ft installation for Dessert Goals title sponsor Joy, a finance app that aims to help millennials make purchases and investments that make them happy and build their savings. Over the course of two back-to-back weekends, thousands of attendees got to interact with Amanda’s installation of hand-painted unicorns, picture frames, cupcakes, jewelry, and more.
Since launching Dessert Goals in NYC in 2016, the festival has travelled between NYC and LA to sate the sweet tooth of dessert-lovers everywhere. Over 5000+ attendees have attended the festival over the course of 3+ years and continues to grow in numbers as people celebrate being part of the #DessertSquad. Amanda has enjoyed working with other volunteers on the ground at the festival, manning the gift shop, re-stocking candies and chocolate, and taking photos of toddlers and puppies that come to play at the festival.
